Section 3. Hazards Identification

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW – Appearance: White or off-white powder

Potential Health Effects – Inhalation: Possible temporary discomfort due to inhalation of dust concentration above the permissible exposure limit. Dust may cause irritation of the nose, throat, and lungs.

Skin: Irritation of the skin can occur and may result in allergic rash

Eyes: High concentration can irritate the eyes, may cause eye irritation or damage.

Carcinogenicity: Known to not be a carcinogen

NTP: NO            IARCH MONOGRAPHS: NO             OSHA REGULATED: NO

Section 4. First Aid Measures

Inhalation: In case of exposure to a high concentration of vapour or mist, remove person to fresh air.  If breathing has stopped, administer artificial respiration, and seek medical attention.

Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and wash contact area with soap and water for 15 minutes. Particular attention should be paid to the hair, face, nose, ears, and other areas not easily cleaned.

Eyes: Flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.

Ingestion: If appreciable quantities are swallowed, seek medical attention.

Section 5. Fire Fighting Measures

General Hazards: Product will support combustion. Products of combustion will include compounds of carbon, nitrogen and oxygen including carbon monoxide.

Extinguishing Media: Carbon dioxide, water dog, dry chemical, and chemical foam

Fire Fighting Procedures: Firefighters must wear a full-face self-contained breathing apparatus in positive pressure mode. Do not use solid stream water since stream will cause fire to scatter and spread fire. Fine water spray can be used to keep fire-exposed containers cool.

Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: closed containers can explode due to build up of pressure due to extreme heat.

Hazardous Combustion Products: Smoke, fumes, oxides of carbon, nitrogen containing compounds.

Section 6. Accidental Release Measures

Steps to be taken in case material is released or spilled: Do not wash sanitary sewer, while wearing a dust mask or dust respirator, sweep or vacuum dust and dispose according to local, sate and federal regulations.

Section 7. Handling and Storage

Precautions to be taken in handling and storage: keep container closed when not in use. Protect containers from abuse, do not expose to open flame, this material will support combustion. Keep this material and all chemicals out of reach of children. Avoid prolonged contact with skin, mucous, membranes, eyes, and open wounds.
